Great River Harbor
A Buffalo County environmental health specialist and zoning technician intend to do a joint inspection of suspected campground code violations at Great River Harbor south of Alma in the town of Belvidere.
County zoning representatives were apprised of a series of campground concerns having to do with overcrowding, improper discharge of wastewater, emergency access restrictions and zoning code violations.
The county's environmental health agency within the county's health and human services department says the campground had 150 campsites and was permitted for 122.
A state agent last inspected the campground in 2011. Since then, Buffalo County has assigned inspection duties locally through the county public health agency. A joint inspection by environmental health and zoning was encouraged due to overlapping codes and regulations.
