Wagon Train Fundraiser

An old fashioned wagon train will be traveling through parts of Winona County next month and raising money for a good cause.  The 29th Annual Wagon Train for Youth, sponsored by the
Minnesota Sheriff's Mounted Posse Association, will take place the weekend of September 7th through the 9th.

Wagonmaster Bruce Montplaisir, one of the12 members of the Winona County Mounted Posse, says this is the first time Winona County will host the event.  20 to 30 covered wagons, carts, and carriages will be taking part along with some 30 to 40 outriders on horses.

The group will camp at the Winona County fairgrounds in St. Charles with one trip, along backroads, to Whitewater State Park and a second trip to Amish country south of St. Charles.  All of the proceeds will go to Children's Hospitals and Clinics in Minneapolis. Montplaisir says they hope to raise between $3,000 and 5,000.

Participants will take pledges and donations from the public are also encouraged.  There is more information and registration forms on the Winona County website...or you can call the sheriff's office at 457-6368 for information.
