Home Rehab Program
The City of Winona will begin taking application this fall for grants to help homeowners fix up their homes in the central part of the city. Community Development Director Lucy McMartin says loans of up to $22,000 will be available for some 25 homes who qualify.
The money comes from the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development which provided $600,000 to the city earlier this summer. McMartin says the city is in the final stages of signing the grant agreement.
The funds can be used for such things as roofs, electrical, plumbing, windows and doors. The program is an extension of the city's previous Core Rehabilitation program.
McMartin says while new applications will be accepted, there already is a waiting list of 100 applications from the previous grant. The program will run through December of 2014.
