LeJetz Begin State American Legion Baseball Tournament Today



The Winona LeJetz begin play today in the Minnesota American Legion State Baseball Tournament in Chaska. The LeJetz, the champions of District 1, will take on District 9 champ Fergus Falls at 10:00 a.m. If the LeJetz win they’ll play the winner of Burnsville and Eden Prairie at 7:00 tonight. A loss by the LeJetz this morning would put them against the loser of Burnsville and Eden Prairie at 4:00 today. The state tournament will run all weekend with the championship game being played on Monday afternoon.

The LeJetz come into the tournament 19-10 while Fergus Falls is 14-11. Zach Benson has been the leader of this year’s LeJetz team leading them in both hitting and pitching. At the plate Benson is hitting .510 with 13 doubles, 3 triples and he has hit all four of the team’s homeruns. Benson is 6-0 on the mound with a .77 ERA and he will get the start today against Fergus Falls. The LeJetz overall have been a very good pitching team. The team ERA is 2.51 and they have seven pitchers that have under a 2.55 ERA.
