Elba Burglary



The Winona County Sheriff's Department continues to investigate a weekend burglary at an Elba tavern that netted thieves over $3,000.
                    
Sheriff Dave Brand said Jim Mauer reported the breakin at Mauer Brothers Tavern Saturday morning.  Brand said when Mauer arrived for work he discovered a lockbox containing $2500 in cash was missing.  Also missing was a second box that contained $500 in gun raffle proceeds, and 150 dollars in cash that had been in a bucket that had been collected in tips.
                   
Brand said there was no sign of a forced entry to the building.  The burglary was reported at 7:42 a.m. Saturday.  If you have any information that can help authorities find the burglar call Winona Area Crime Stoppers at 457-6530 where you can remain anonymous and be eligible for a reward.
