Frac Sand Meeting
On Thursday (August 9th) many residents of Buffalo County are once again expected to voice serious concerns about a proposed frac sand mining operation in the County.
A public hearing will be held at 5:30 p.m. at Alma High School to hear input on a permit application from Seven Sands, a group of several landowners seeking permits for frac sand mining and processing in the Town of Montana, outside Waumandee.
The Seven Sands permit application calls for an increase of up to 390 trucks per day on county Highway 88. Many residents have concerns about this increase in heavy truck traffic on on Highway 88 as well as Highway 35.
A large group of Buffalo County residents showed up just two weeks ago to raise concerns about a proposed frac sand processing and rail spur near the Cochrane-Fountain City school. That permit application was denied. However, many of the concerns raised about that project remain concerns with regard to the Seven Sands application.....
