Debate-First District
The delayed farm bill, the budget deficit, veterans benefits and insider trading were some of the issues that came up today when the two Republican candidates for Congress in the first district had a chance to debate with the Democratic incumbent.
The debate aired live on KWNO AM-1230, during the annual Farm Fest, in Redwood Falls, and featured Republicans Mike Parry and Alan Quist, one of whom will face incumbent Democrat Tim Walz in November.
Walz highlighted a need for more compromise in Washington saying he he worked hard to pass some key legislation.
Parry said Congress needs to take back the power it has given to bureaucrats.
Quist called on balancing the budget and reduced spending.
Parry and Quist square off in the November 14th primary election..
