Wigdahl--Felony DWIs

Winona Police said a 28-year-old Winona man is facing two preliminary felony DWI charges in the first degree after results from a blood test were returned from the state crime lab.

Deputy Police Chief Tom Williams said Randy Ernest Wigdahl had been arrested on June 27th following a hit and run crash in Winona.  The returned results showed Wigdahl had a blood alcohol content at the time of the crash that was 0.22%, over twice the legal limit.

Williams said Wigdahl had been cited after he allegedly fled the scene of the crash at Huff and Mill Streets and was apprehended a few blocks away.

The case was turned over to the county attorney's office for  determination of formal charges against Wigdahl.  The felony charges arise because Wigdahl had three or more DWI convictions within ten years and one of them was a felony conviction.
