Klobachar Endorsement

The Minnesota Farmers Union has endorsed U.S. Senator Amy Klobuchar for re-election. The MFU highlighted Klobuchar's leadership in passing a strong 2008 Farm Bill and her efforts to craft a bipartisan 2012 Farm Bill that would strengthen Minnesota's rural economy.

Klobuchar is a member of the Senate Agriculture Committee and has been a leader on agriculture and rural issues since coming to the Senate. She successfully worked with Minnesota Representative Collin Peterson to help pass the 2008 Farm Bill, which strengthened the farm safety net and provided the first ever permanent disaster assistance.

Klobuchar recently helped pass the bipartisan 2012 Farm Bill in the Senate. The 5-year bill would reduce the deficit by $23 billion, keep a strong safety net in place for farmers, maintain the sugar program, strengthen the dairy program, and put in place protections for livestock producers.
