Merchants Bank says if you receive a telephone call telling you your Merchants credit or debit card has been blocked and needs to be reactivated...ignore it.  It's a scam.
                    
Deputy Winona Police Chief Tom Williams said a number of residents have reported getting the calls and have been advised to reactivate their Merchants cards by calling a number back.  Some don't even have any Merchants cards.
                   
The bank is advising people who receive the calls to ignore them...press no buttons and give no personal information out....and just hang up.
                   
Williams said the calls have been going mostly to phone numbers with the prefix of 312 and 313.  The calls are pre-recorded auto calls.
