Winona Police said a 22 year old Winona man was injured when he fell from a roof above a downtown business early Saturday.
Deputy Police Chief Tom Williams identfied the victim as Kyler Thomas Steiner who was airlifted to a Rochester hospital with a serious head injury. Williams said Steiner was on the roof above the Boardwalk Fitness Center on West Third Street when he attempted to jump from a lower level to a higher level.
Witnesses said Steiner was holding on to the upper level and was unable to pull himself up. When he tried to jump back down to a lower ledge he fell about 30 feet to the sidewalk below. Williams said there were five other people on the roof at the time. He said alcohol appeared to have been involved.
Williams said the building houses apartments on the second floor.
