Candidate Complaint

A complaint has been filed with the Minnesota State Campaign Finance Board against the Democratic candidate who is opposing incumbent Republican State Senator John Howe in November.

The Post-Bulliten of Rochester says Zumbrota resident Jerry Richter filed the complaint against Matt Schmidt of Red Wing.  The complaint alleges that Schmidt's campaign failed to include all required donor information in a July 30th finance report.

The paper says Richter is alleging that there are at least seven instances where the Schmidt for Senate campaign failed to include information about donors who contributed $200 or more.  State law requires the reporting the identities of all donors who give $100 or more to a political campaign.

Schmidt is opposing fellow Red Wing resident John Howe in District 21.
