County Health Services

Winona County is continuing the transition of its home health care program to the private sector.

Spokesperson Merilee Hazelton updated the Winona County Board of Commissioners saying the transition has been going smoothly so far.

Board Chair Mena Kaehler said there has been some misunderstanding among some clients who fear they will lose their home health care but Hazelton said letters were sent to each client last month telling them their services will continue even when the transition is complete.

Hazelton said meetings have been held with each of the seven private agencies that currently also provide home health care services locally to gauge the agency's interest in taking over the county services.

Meetings have also been held with county home health care aides who may be losing jobs. The county is providing job search assistance to those aides.....
