Former governor Tommy Thompson won the Republican Senate primary in Wisconsin on Tuesday, edging out self-funding businessman Eric Hovde. Thompson will face Democratic Rep. Tammy Baldwin in the general election. The AP called the race for Thompson, who led Hovde 35% to 30%, with 81% of precincts reporting.
