First District Republicans will gather in Mankato on Saturday August 18th to formally endorse Alan Quist to run against Democrat Tim Walz for Congress.
                 
Quist defeated Mike Parry in Tuesday's primary and both he and Parry have called for the party to unify around Quist for the November election.  The two candidates deadlocked at an endorsing convention in April sending the decision to the primary.
                  
The convention will begin at 7:00 p.m. at the Mankato Place Event Center.  The event will also feature Tom Emmer, the former state senator and candidate for Governor in 2010.
