A 46 year old Goodview man is facing felony assault charges in connection with an incident involving a Goodview police officer.
               
According to a criminal complaint filed in Winona District Court, Rafael Russell Peil got into a scuffle with the police officer on August 12th, when the officer came to a Goodview residence on Michigan Lane after spotting smoke.
               
When the officer asked Peil to put out a fire in a fire pit, Peil initially refused saying it was already out.  When the officer persisted, Peil allegedly poured two half full glasses of water on it. The officer then used a garden hose to put the fire out completely.
                
A disagreement followed and that's when Peil allegedly pushed the officer and also struck the officer in the eye.  Unconditional bond on Peil was set at $10,000 on Tuesday following his first court appearance. His next appearance was set for August 23rd.
