Lightening is believed to have been the cause of a garage fire on Winona's west side early Thursday.
Assistant Fire Chief Jim Multhaup said the call came in at about 12:10 a.m. that sent fire rigs to 445 Macemen Street. Multhaup said it's believed lightning struck the roof of the detached garage and opened up a one foot by two foot area.
The fire was confined to that location and caused some some structural damage to the garage. There was no damage to the home and no reported injuries.
There was a general page for off-duty firefighters who remained on the scene until 2:30 a.m.
