Disaster Bill
State Representative Gene Pelowski is calling for more transparency as lawmakers continue to work on fashioning a disaster relief bill for northern Minnesota communities who were flooded this summer.
Pelowski said a special working group, that included him, met today at the state capital to discuss the bill but the public also needs to be involved.
Pelowski was the chief author of a disaster bill the legislature approved after the flood of 2007 that destroyed large parts of southeastern Minnesota.
He says while the framework of that bill is being discussed for the new bill, it would be a mistake not to give the public and state agencies the opportunity to offer their input.
A special session has been tentatively scheduled for August 24th.....
