New Rushford School

The Rushford-Peterson School District says if it's good for Moose Lake, it's good for Rushford too.

Superintendent Chuck Ehlers has requested that a special session of the Minnesota legislature consider Rushford's request for assistance to help pay for a new school.

The Rochester Post-Bulletin said if funding for repair of flood damage this summer to the Moose Lake Schools will be considered in a disaster relief bill and so should Rushford's request because it's school building was flooded in 2007, but received no assistance.

The damage estimate in 2007 to the Rushford building was placed at nearly one million dollars.

Representative Greg Davids who represents the Rushford-Peterson district, he has told fellow committee members that if Moose Lake is justified to receive disaster aid, Rushford-Peterson should too because it was missed in the past.

The special session is expected to be held on August 24th to consider a 190-million dollar disaster relief bill proposed by Governor Mark Dayton.....
