The great grandson of Winona congressman William Windom died at his San Francisco bay area home on Thursday. The Emmy award winning actor was 88.
William Windom was named after the congressman and Treasury secretary...the only Minnesotan ever to be featured on US Currency. His likeness could be found on the two dollar bill. He was perhaps best known for his recurring role on the 1980's television series "Murder, She Wrote."
He also produced a one man show about his famous ancestor...including a Winona performance on a national tour. He is survived by his wife, Patricia, and four children.
