The Red Wing School District's insurance company will cover the 90-thousand dollar settlement paid to a former student who claimed to have had her civil rights violated.
Last month the school district announced it had reached a settlement with former student Quera Pruitt who brought the civil suit a year ago. Pruitt claimed some 60 students came to school during homecoming week 2009 dressed in stereotypical black and gangster clothing. Pruitt claimed the school district knew this was done previously during homecoming week but did nothing to stop it.
According to the Red Wing Republican Eagle, Superintendent of Schools Karston Anderson announced the settlement will cost the district nothing. It will be paid by the school's insurance company including attorney fees.....
