The Minnesota Farmers Union (MFU) has announced that it has awarded its 2011-2012 "Farm and Rural Legislative Award" to Senator Jeremy Miller of Winona.
MFU presented the award to the Republican Senator for his work on the Senate Agriculture Committee and support of key agricultural issues including Green Acres property tax reform and support for the Rural Finance Authority which makes loans to farmers.
MFU President Doug Peterson remarked that Senator Miller has been an excellent addition to both the Agriculture and Environment Committee's this session, very thoughtful and willing to hear both sides of issues.
Before announcing the award, the MFU took into consideration Miller's voting record on agricultural issues, committee work, and his work with area farmer-members from his district.
