Mayor Jerry Miller calls the recommendation by the Minnesota Department of Transportation to construct a second two lane Highway 43 bridge across the Mississippi River a big win for the community.
             
Miller told a Winona Radio audience it was a frustrating and lengthy process but, in the end, but well worth the struggle.  Miller says he believes the new bridge will be built in a way to complement the rehabbed 70 year old original bridge.

Even though the process was a lengthy one, and the city was successful in getting what it wanted...not having to see the old bridge shut down during construction...Miller says, the end result was good for Winona.
