The Winona City Planning Commission will continue its ongoing study of sand mining operation issues when the commission meets at 4:30 p.m. Monday at City Hall. The commission will address traffic impacts on the city from trucks hauling frac sand into the city.
Representatives of the Minnesota Department of Transportation will be at the meeting to give presentations about frac sand traffic from their agency's perspective. The commission is expected to make some recommendations on the truck issue to be considered at its next meeting.
Commissioners will also discuss an analysis of one of the sand operations sites in Winona operated by Gould Transportation at 370 West Second Street.
The meeting is open to the public. It's all part of the overall study the commission is undertaking during the city's moratorium on new frac sand operations which will expire next March.
