Local lawmakers say it took a bipartisan effort to fashion the $167 million flood relief bill during Friday's special session.
Democratic Representative Gene Pelowski said lawmakers learned from the 2007 southeastern Minnesota floods and were able to craft a bill for northern Minnesota based on legislation he authored five years ago. Republican House Tax Chair Greg Davids of Preston also credited on Friday the bipartisan effort by lawmakers.
Governor Mark Dayton signed the bill into law on Friday after it passed the House on a vote of 125-to-3.
