The Houston County attorney has asked the county board to place the county's victim services coordinator position under the county attorney's office.
Jamie Hammel said state funding of $42,000 a year for the position has run out and she is asking the county to take over paying for the position under a cost-share agreement. According to the Caledonia Argus, Hammel's office handles most of the victim cases in the county.
No decision was made on the request but Hammel said she will bring the issue back to a future board meeting. Funding for the position runs out at the end of this month.
