The Winona County Board of Commissioners Tuesday heard from several St. Charles area residents in regards to delaying action on the county's first frac sand mining permit application.
Wayne Feyereisen spoke on behalf of the Cherokee Road Neighbors and Concerned Citizens of St. Charles, and said their petition, which has been signed by 550 Winona County residents, shows there needs to be more studies done before any applications are approved.
County Planning and Environmental Services Director, Jason Gilman, told the board staff was waiting until after a September 19th meeting of the Minnesota Environmental Quality Board to make any recommendations.
