County Board

The Winona County Board of Commissioners will hear more about a proposal to ship frac sand underground to a proposed sand washing plant neat St.Charles when the board meets next Tuesday, September 4th.

A representative of Minnesota Proppant will be at the meeting to present an overview of the proposed frac sand washing plant and rail facility east of St. Charles, along with a request for preliminary authorization for a sand slurry pipeline that would connect to the proposed plant.

The pipeline is being proposed as an alternative to truck traffic running through St. Charles and Amish country southeast of St. Charles. The pipeline would need to run along county right-of-way.

The discussion will come at the board's committee-of-the board meeting following the regular meeting which starts at 9:00 a.m. at the county government center.

On the regular agenda is a request from the Southeastern Minnesota Multi-County HRA, based in Wabasha, for a $114,000 2013 property tax levy against Winona County properties located outside the City of Winona.  The board will also hear an update on Stone Point Park, located at the county's former landfill site.
