City Council

The Winona City Council on Tuesday will be asked to set a preliminary 2013 property tax levy.

City Manager Judy Bodway is seeking a 1.3% increase over the 2012 levy on a proposed budget of 38-point-5 million dollars in expenditures. The council is also expected to schedule the annual "Truth in Taxation" public hearing on the budget for December 3rd.

Councilmembers will also be asked to support the move to have a generic environmental impact statement be required by the state for sand mining operations.

In addition, they will review a proposed amendment to the city's rental housing licensing policy and vote on a new two year contract with the city's law enforcement police officer's union running through 2013.

The council meeting will be held at City Hall at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, because of the Labor Day holiday.
