Hall--Crash Charges

A 20-year-old Winona man is facing preliminary felony charges in connection with a crash that took place August 25th in Winona.

Deputy Police Chief Tom Williams said police have submitted a report to the county attorney's office recommending Brett Joseph Hall be charged with felony criminal vehicular operation--leaving the scene of a personal injury crash.

Williams said the crash took place at the intersection of Mill and Wilson Streets about 3:45 a.m.  He said three male passengers in the vehicle were cited with underage drinking and fleeing on foot.

Williams said Hall also fled on foot and later called the law enforcement center to report his vehicle had been stolen, unaware that the three passengers, who were apprehended, had already told police that Hall was driving the vehicle.

Williams said Hall produced a preliminary breath test of 0.24%, three times the legal limit for driving.

Police are also recommending Hall be charged with five other criminal counts including DWI and falsely reporting a crime.
