Red Cross
A Winona woman will be volunteering her assistance in the Red Cross disaster relief efforts for the victims of Hurricane Isaac.
The Winona County Red Cross says Maureen Guillou will be working as a nurse volunteer to provide health care and support to volunteers who are already working in shelters, distributing meals, and doing damage assessments.
She is expected to remain in Gulf Coast region for 12 days......
The Red Cross says on Monday night about 830 people stayed in 16 Red Cross or community shelters in Louisiana and Mississippi. Along with giving people a place to stay, the Red Cross is also serving thousands of meals a day in partnership with the Southern Baptist Convention...more than 267-thousand meals and snacks so far.
If you would like to help out you can donate to the Red Cross efforts by calling 1-800-RED CROSS, or going online to www.redcross.org. You can also text a 10-dollar donation by texting the word REDCROSS to 90999.....
