The St. Stanislaus Koska parish in Winona will host a special event on Sunday to celebrate its church being named a minor basilica by the Vatican.
               
A Celebration of Elevation will be held at 10:00 a.m. at the church which is open to the public.

The church will become only the second basilica in the state of Minnesota and 70th in the nation.

According to documents filed with the Winona County Recorder's Office in late August, the church has formally changed its name to 'The Basilica of St. Stanislaus Kostka.'.....
