EAB-Trempealeau
With the recent discovery an emerald ash borer at Perrot State Park, Trempealeau County has become Wisconsin's 15th county to be quarantined.
The emerald ash borer quarantine helps to limit the human assisted spread of the insect by restricting the movement of certain items that may harbor one of the insects. Some of the items that are are now forbidden from leaving the quarantine area include ash nursery stock, ash logs, ash tree trimmings, ash mulch, or any species of hardwood firewood. Allowances are made for businesses that deal with these products provided that they've been inspected and have agreed to comply with specific safe handling procedures.
The list of infested counties in Wisconsin includes: La Crosse, Trempealeau, and Vernon.. Quarentines are also in effect in Winona and Houston Counties......
