A move by Winona County Commissioner Marcia Ward to delay action on the re-appointment of County Assessor Steven Hacken for four more years was turned away by the other four commissioners.
Ward sought the delay until the end of the month in order so she could get more specific information on the assessor's future duties in the wake of county's reorganization of some of the departments at the Government Center.
Commissioner Jim Pomeroy cautioned this was not the right time to be discussing the assessor when his job performance was not an issue and he is in no danger of losing his appointment.
Ward's efforts were defeated when the board voted 4-to-1 in favor of reappointing Hacken to another four-year term.
