CHS Plant

Cenex Harvest States is planning to build a $1.2 billion fertilizer plant east of Jamestown.

The factory is scheduled to start operating in 2016.

It's intended to use natural gas to make about 2,200 tons of anhydrous ammonia fertilizer daily. The plant would operate 24 hours a day and have between 100 and 150 workers.

CHS intends to locate the factory on 200 acres at the Spiritwood Energy Park in Stutsman County, about 10 miles east of Jamestown.

CHS is a farmer-owned cooperative based in Inver Grove Heights, Minn. and since 1975 have operated a barge-loading terminal on the Mississippi River in Winona.
