Planning Commission-WSU

A Winona State University official told the Winona City Planning Commission that any potential frac sand truck route on Main Street / Highway 43 would have a negative impact on students and visitors.

Cristeen Custer, Assistant Vice-President of Marketing and Communication, said half of the WSU students walk to school and would be impacted by the frac sand trucks.  Custer says WSU's future transportation plans including striving for less traffic noise and pollution impact around the campus...not more.

No truck route has been selected yet for any proposed frac sand operations. The commissioners have been studying a variety of sand related issues during the one-year moratorium on sand mining operations that began last spring.
