City Council

The Winona City Council will get an update on Monday on the frac sand mining study being conducted by the city Planning Commission.

Since the last update in July, a number of issues have been reviewed including the continued analysis of the individual frac sand operations in the city, a recommendation that the council take action in support of a generic environmental statement for the operations, plus the commission conducted a roundtable discussion open to the public.

The Commission says it is on schedule with the sand moratorium timeline and will review a draft of the final moratorium report before conducting public hearings on it

Also on the council's agenda is a public hearing on proposed assessments to Winona residents and landlords for unpaid sewer and water charges totaling about $176,000.

The regular meeting starts at 6:30 p.m. Monday.  The council will also hold an informational meeting at 5:15 p.m. to receive information on the city's 2013 health insurance proposals.  Both meetings are open to the public.
