Local authorities reported no major incidents during Saturday's 47th Annual Fall Flood Run which saw thousands of motorcycles and their riders flock to the Winona area from the Twin Cities. The event raises funds for Gillette Children's Hospital in the Twin Cities.
Chief Winona County Deputy Deputy Ron Ganrude said no major incidents were reported i n the county. He said the largest concentration of the cycles and their riders were in both Minneiska and Elba.
The spring Flood Run annually marks the major Mississippi River flood of 1965 when motorcyclists helped out in flood stricken communities along the river, including Winona, in batting the flood waters. It later expanded to a fall event as well.
