NAMI Fundraiser

The second annual cut-a-thon/massage and book signing fundraiser for mental health in Winona will be held in memory of Anna Mulkey this month.

The National Alliance on Mental Illness-Winona Affiliate fundraiser will be held  on Saturday, September 29th from 2:00 - 6:00 p.m. at Pleasant Valley Church in Winona.

Helen Newell is with the NAMI -Winona Affiliate and says the fundraising idea came from Wendy Sandvig, owner of Nostallja Studio, to honor the memory of Anna.

Newell says wet haircuts and massages will be provided for $10 each with all the proceeds going to provide services, support and education for local citizens who live with mental illness and for their families.

Winona author, Dorothy Ruppert, will be on hand to sell and sign her book, "God Placed Her in My Path - Lessons Learned from the Furnace of Bipolar Disorder." Three dollars from each book sold will be donated to NAMI-Winona.

Newell says last years fundraiser raised about 1-thousand dollars.

Cash donations can be sent to NAMI-Winona, P.O. Box 1063, Winona, MN 55987.
