Shakespeare Purchase



The Great River Shakespeare Festival has purchased a downtown building.
                   
According to documents filed at the Winona County Recorder's Office, the festival has purchased the building at 51 Johnson Street from Mikrut Properties.

The purchase price is listed as 186-thousand dollars.

The building is 140-feet by 120-feet in size sits on Johnson and Front Streets.

The festival's  managing director, Eric Bunge confirmed that the purchase has been made.

Bunge told Winona Radio News he is waiting until a November 5th stakeholder's meeting to publicly announce plans for the building.

Bunge said the meeting will be held at the Winona County History Center starting at 4:30 p.m.

The festival announced in last month that it had surpassed the 1-point-6 million dollar goal of its "Setting the Stage" fundraising campaign..
