City Council

The Winona City Council received an update Monday on the frac sand mining study being conducted by the city Planning Commission.

Assistant City Planner, Carlos Espinosa, told the council a number of issues have been reviewed in the past 2 months, including the analysis of individual frac sand operations in the city and a recommendation for action in support of a generic environmental statement for those operations.

Espinosa says he hopes to bring a draft of the final moratorium report to the council in November or December.

The Planning Commission has been studying the city's moratorium on new frac sand operations which will expire next March.
