One of the companies seeking permits to operate frac sand mines in Buffalo County will be holding a job fair this weekend.    

Glacier Sands says the event will be held at the Cochrane-Fountain City School from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Vice President of Corporate Relations, Paula Gilbeck, said Glacier Sands is working with Manpower to put on the job fair and expects around 400 people to apply for jobs.

The company is seeking employees who qualify for jobs in some 13 different areas. Those include general labor, plant manager, safety manager, lab techs, production managers, production supervisors, as well as controller and H-R manager, plus administrative support.

The company has yet to be granted permits to operate sand mines by the Buffalo County Board.

A moratorium on sand mining operations will expire on October 31st...but some residents and local groups have been seeking to have the moratorium extended.....
