R.E.A.C.H. Walk
R.E.A.C.H., which stands for Reach Everyone and Choose Hope, is a local not-for-profit organization created to raise community awareness and funds for child abuse prevention.
The group organizes an annual 4-day long relay-walk fundraiser and each year one or two organizations are chosen as the Tour of Hope beneficiaries to receive 100% of all funds raised.
This year the proceeds will go to Matty's Place, the child advocacy center in Winona and Hope Coalition - Kids Count Program, a regional service that reaches out to children who have suffered at the hands of an abuser.
The 2012 kickoff will take place at the American Legion, 302 East Sarnia Street, Thursday, September 27th at noon with a short program at 12:30 p.m.
In 2010, 14 children were killed in Minnesota from child abuse and neglect. In honor of those children, the group will camp out at Lake Park in Winona and walk 14 hours each day, with no breaks, from September 28th through October 1st.
R.E.A.C.H. invites the public to raise pledges and walk with them during the event anytime from 6:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. each day. The groups goal is to raise $14,000 this year.
R.E.A.C.H. has donated nearly $30,000 to local organizations working to increase awareness and prevent child abuse since 2008.
