United Way Initiative
The Winona Area Public School Board Thursday heard from representatives from the United Way of the Greater Winona Area on it's new initiative focused on children.
United Way's Board Director, Justin Green, told the board the organization knows how important it is to provide services for infants through children in third grade and their families.
Executive Director, Beth Moe, says the new initiative is getting people excited, including area charter and private schools.
United Way is partnering with teachers this fall in creating a kindergarten-readiness assessment to better prepare students for success. Moe says research shows children who receive quality preschool opportunities are more likely to graduate and maintain jobs later in life.
