WAPS Release Day

Monday may have been an early release day for students in the Winona Area Public School system but not for the district's teachers.

Superintendent Scott Hannon told a Winona Radio audience that the instructors use the time to meet in small groups called professional learning communities to review how they can increase student achievement based on the latest reports from the state on student testing.

Hannon says there will be more early and ongoing release days in the coming months to allow instructors to continue to look at progress the students are making, or on how more progress can be achieved.  Early release days will also be held in October, November, January, March, April and May.
