special kickoff event will be held in Caledonia on Thursday, October 4th, to announce the early results of a fundraising campaign to raise $1.7 million for a new aquatic center.  The event will be held at the Four Seasons Community Center in Caledonia at 5:00 p.m.
              
Ellen Hongerholt with Crescendo Consulting, which is overseeing the project, said the steering committee has been receiving positive results in the campaign so far.  The new aquatic center will serve Caledonia, Brownsville, Eitsen, Freeburg, and the Houston area.
              
Hongerholt said the project will be adding a $190,000 150 foot water slide without increasing the $1.7 million goal. Other changes will also be added to the design to save about 100-thousand dollars.  The public is invited to attend the special campaign kickoff on Thursday, October 4th.
