La Crosse Homicide-Trial

A medical examiner has testified a woman found dead in La Crosse was strangled. But the defense attorney for the man on trial in her death says the victim overdosed on cocaine.

Izelia Golatt is on trial in La Crosse County Circuit Court on first-degree intentional homicide in the death of 35-year-old Kristen Rodgers. Her body was found in a dirt lot last March.

Dr. Vincent Tranchida performed the autopsy on Rodgers' body. He testified Tuesday that Rodgers was manually strangled, which caused her death.  The La Crosse Tribune says the defense is expected to call its own forensic pathologist Wednesday to testify that Rodgers died of hypothermia and a cocaine overdose.
