History Center--Open House

The Winona County History Center holds an open house Thursday to celebrate the completion of an exterior remodeling project.

Historic battlements and turrets were installed on the roof of the former armory section of the center.  The battlements were removed in about 1937. The armory was constructed in 1915.

The cost of the project was $178,000. Most of the funding came from the state of Minnesota.  The Historical Society occupied the armory building in 1971.  The open house begins at 4:00 p.m.
