Mental Health Fair

The public is encouraged to join the Winona Senior High School next month for a mental health fair and one-hour program aimed at increasing understanding of youth suicide.

The school's hope is to help inform and support parents, students and staff in the wake of two recent student suicides. The Mental Health Fair is Monday, October 8th, from 6:15 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with the presentation from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the Auditorium.

During the Mental Health Fair community providers will be available with resources and information. The event may help connect families looking to support students struggling with grief, repeated experiences of loss, chemical issues, thoughts of suicide and/or other mental health needs with local resources.

Licensed psychologists Bridgette Hensley and Ryan McKelley from the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse will lead a presentation and discussion for parents and community members. Topics will include understanding warning signs and learning how to talk to your child about suicide.
