Sheriff Mike Schmidknecht said authorities received a call just before midnight on Sunday that 57 year old Gregory Fedie had not returned home from the woods. A sheriff's report said Fedie had left earlier in the day to move tree stands and was using a four wheel ATV. He had not returned to his vehicle.
About 1:30 a.m. the search of the area near Waumandee discovered Fedie had been involved in an ATV crash on a hillside. Authorities determined his injuries were fatal. The sheriff's Department was aided in the search by the Waumandee-Montana-Lincoln Fire Department, the DNR, and Independence Police.
